Mót was invented by Nguyễn Hữu Xuân, a young man born in the 1990s.
Many people must wonder about the origin of the intriguing name “Mót.” It turns out, it’s the nickname of Nguyễn Hữu Xuân, the young man who first created and began selling this drink.
Xuân shared that one time, his mother made him a drink using an herbal remedy from the An Thái Ông Thầy Tải recipe, and he liked it so much that he decided to experiment and combine it with local ingredients from Hội An to create a healthful herbal drink.
Mót is made from many different herbs, including chrysanthemum, lo han guo, green tea leaves, cinnamon, hạ khô thảo, licorice, honeysuckle, lemon, sugar, honey, dried lotus leaves, thanh quế, and lemongrass.
“When creating the ingredients for this drink, I considered that tourists often eat many foods while traveling that can cause indigestion or even stomachaches from street food, so I wanted this herbal drink to both quench thirst and aid digestion,” Xuân said.
Starting from a small street food stall, Xuân has developed Mót into one of the most famous "specialties of Hội An" today, making it a must-try for anyone visiting the town and a drink that has become a sensation.

Not only is Mót refreshing, but it also carries an exquisite aesthetic. Each glass is decorated in the style of Hội An, with fresh tea leaves and striking pink lotus petals.
Xuân shared that the lotus petals used at Mót are carefully selected from large lotus ponds in Quảng Nam’s countryside. The petals are cleaned, soaked in filtered water, and used to garnish the herbal drink. Due to the high volume of sales, sometimes the shop needs to import hundreds of lotus flowers each day. In the winter, when lotus flowers are scarce, they even import them from the South and quickly ship them via Vietnam Airlines. If the supply runs out, Mót is even willing to import lotus flowers from Thailand.
Moreover, although the Mót shop is small, it leaves a lasting impression on visitors due to its thoughtful attention to the details of the "Instagrammable" setting. The shop embraces a vintage style, featuring bamboo trays, teapots, oil lamps, and other distinctly Vietnamese items. Therefore, Mót tea not only tastes good but also transports you to an old-fashioned atmosphere, enough to capture the hearts of visitors.
The Mót drink is beautifully decorated but only costs 18k per glass.
To ensure food safety standards, Hữu Xuân borrowed his sister’s garden in Cẩm Châu to grow lemons, lemongrass, and personally traveled to the highlands to select the best green tea leaves, ensuring the herbal flavor of the tea.
An added bonus is that the shop has replaced plastic cups and straws with paper cups and bamboo straws, which are both environmentally friendly and create a more intimate, familiar aesthetic.
Mót is widely loved by visitors for its ability to cool the body, detoxify, and promote restful sleep
With meticulous attention to detail, from the lotus leaves to the tea leaves, each glass of Mót is affordable, priced at only 18,000 VND per glass (2025). It’s no surprise that Mót has won the hearts of both domestic and international travelers who visit the ancient town.
Quán nước Mót nay được đăng ký bản quyền sở hữu trí tuệ và bán duy nhất tại địa chỉ số 150 đường Trần Phú.
n 2015, when it first opened, Mót was a small street stall, carefully arranged with a lotus flower vase, characteristic oil lamps, a tea pot, and neatly arranged herbs on a bamboo tray.
By 2017, Mót Hội An officially registered its intellectual property rights and was sold exclusively at 150 Trần Phú Street.
Now, more than 10 years later, Mót still maintains its simple elegance and has become one of the must-try experiences in Hội An. It’s easy to see why Mót has become the ideal choice for a “low-cost luxury” experience — a refreshing drink at an affordable price, yet with a style deeply embedded in Hội An’s identity. The shop’s décor, filled with charming Vietnamese touches, like a bamboo tray with green ceramic bowls of herbs and lemon, lemongrass, a pot of green tea, and a vase of fragrant lotus flowers, transports visitors into the heart of traditional Vietnamese culture
The rustic, deeply authentic beauty of Mót shop has made it a favorite check-in spot for many visitors.
